Four layers, one stride

Studio demo

Studio demo. An exploded-view animation that turns the sole stack into the story.

An exploded side view of a white knit running shoe, split into four floating layers (knit upper, cobalt-and-white foam midsole, carbon plate and rubber outsole), each labelled on the right under a large cobalt “04” counter.

The creative question

What makes this trainer different from the pair someone already owns?

Who it's for

Runners who compare shoes by feel, and can’t feel anything through a product page.

The idea and the hook

Show the build. Each layer gets a moment and a plain label.

The chosen hook

The shoe lands and compresses under the line “What’s under your foot?”

The demo creative approach

We based the sequence on the product’s construction, separating outsole, plate, foam and upper one at a time so each label lands on its own beat. The layers snap back together before the end card, so the last image is the finished shoe.

Development

Three frames that carried the decisions, in the order they appear in the film.

  1. Hook: the shoe lands under “What’s under your foot?”, so the sole is the subject from the first frame.
  2. The cross-section draws each layer’s thickness and density, turning “feel” into something a buyer can see.
  3. The layers snap back before the end card, so the last image is the finished shoe, not the diagram.
